Enable all citizens to cast votes safely
Having access to voting is one of the tenets of a viable and robust democracy.
The government and its elected representatives should do all it can to encourage and enable as many of its citizens to vote.
I was appalled to read in the Mirror that our two local state representatives, Jim Gregory and Lou Schmitt, have taken a stand to impede both of these issues — citizen voting and safety.
It is obvious they are more concerned with following the Republican party line, which seeks to impede election rules that will enable our state to more efficiently handle the increased number of mail-in ballots this fall.
Both off these representatives and other Republicans hide behind the conspiracy theory that mail in ballots are prone to fraud.
Why be fearful of the wishes of all the citizens?
