Wearing masks is about saving lives

In this time of COVID-19, I think about the pro-life and pro-choice labels we use to classify ourselves.

If you wear a mask to prevent yourself, your family or your friends from being infected, you are pro-life, as protecting another’s life matters to you.

If you choose to not wear a mask, speaking only about your need to be free to choose and not concerned with other’s lives, then you are pro-choice — protecting some life some of the time.

Our president claims he is pro-life in the traditional sense, but clearly he is pro-choice when it comes to mask wearing.

A question might be how do those who are pro-life in the traditional sense become pro-choice when it comes to mask wearing? If one makes this choice, does this mean you are actually pro-choice?

It seems that if you are this person, then you have chosen to respect some life some of the time and not all life all of the time. Some life matters while other life does not.

Perhaps it is the type or state of life that actually matters. It would seem that if you claim to be pro-life, you are pro-life across the board. You respect all life, no matter the state or type — from planet to womb to death row.

All life matters.
