I will be voting for Lois Kaneshiki for re-election to the Hollidaysburg Area School Board on Nov. 5 because of her spirit of service.

She understands we need accountability for spending $14,000 per student every year in our district. She understands there is more to accountability than test scores. She values a solid foundation of education for every student without buying into educational fads and gimmicks, like Common Core.

While the Pennsylvania General Assembly sat on its hands, Kaneshiki spoke in front of the Pennsylvania Board of Education to try to stop them from adopting Common Core in our state.

Kaneshiki understands how important curriculum is and spends time reading textbooks before she votes on their approval to see if they present information in an unbiased and fair manner. Who else do you know who does all this without financial reward?
