Personal crystal ball: Long winter looming

My father, Maurice McNulty, who died in 1975, always thought that the severity of any winter was in contrast to the severity of the previous summer — that if there was a cold, hard winter, the summer before was beautiful, and that if there was an easy winter, the summer before was unpleasant.

Because we’ve had a beautiful summer, I predict, therefore, that we’ll have a hard winter.

I guess we’ll see.
