Opportunity plentiful for contributing seniors

Most everyone knows that Blair Senior Services has two volunteer programs for seniors: The Senior Companion Program and the Foster Grandparent Program.

But for those who don’t know about these programs, please let me encourage you to check into it.

All low-income seniors (55 years and older) male or female may apply.

I was a foster grandparent for 12 years, and for me it was a wonderful, rewarding experience — fond memories and absolutely no regrets.

Foster grandparents serve in the schools, at Head Start and day care centers. It is a wonderful way to feel useful and satisfied in your senior years.

In addition, there is also a paid stipend of $2.65 per hour, plus transportation.

Once a month, there is a meeting where you can meet new people and make new friends — with a nice lunch provided.

Please call Blair Senior Services at 946-1235 for more information and income guidelines. I think you’ll be glad you did.
