Women’s March uplifting experience

I did not read Star Parker’s Jan. 27 commentary on the Women’s March so I was stunned and mildly amused at the irony of the fact that she depicted me as representing a “me culture” (per letter to editor Feb. 2).

From my perspective, President Donald Trump’s “America First” nationalists are the quintessential collective “me first culture.”

My primary motivation in attending the march was to be a presence to show the world that not everyone in the USA has a callous disregard for those less fortunate than us.

It was an extremely positive and uplifting experience. Unfortunately, the media attention was on Madonna’s crude remarks.

I would like to add a few thoughts to Ms. Ginny Mutti’s observations regarding pro-life Christian’s silence on life affirming matters.

Regarding protecting our environment, please remember that our earth is a source of life, not a resource to be exploited for profit.

Regarding the lack of prenatal and family health support, do the pro-lifers realize that the USA has a higher infant mortality rate than 27 other wealthy countries, primarily due to lack of health care among the poorest in our country?

It is the pro-life Christian party that supports the ban on refugees, most of whom are women and children, from war torn countries.

A most disconcerting aspect of this Trump presidency is that a coalition of Christians — pro-life Christians, Evangelical Christians, Christian Brotherhood of the KKK, White Nationalists Christians — support this person who embodies the antithesis of my understanding of what it means to be a Christian.
