Fort Roberdeau proves it’s anything but boring

As the director of Fort Roberdeau, I am obliged to defend our Blair County Revolutionary War Fort.

I do not want the Mirror readership to think the bored Tinkerson cartoon character is reality compared to the more than 2,500 students from 30 schools in our seven-county region who participate annually in our field trips.

Quite the contrary.

In fact, two schools scheduled for the spring 2017 season this past week. Our successful return rate alone debunks the “boring fort” comment.

Our dedicated and creative volunteers/staff work hard to provide a fun, interactive and educational experience. Indeed, it is a Revolutionary Educational Experience that inspires excitement in students for living history.

I invite your readership and the Tinkersons to join us for our annual Star Spangled 4th celebration on July 4.

It is the 40th anniversary celebration of the Fort Roberdeau’s Reconstruction with free admission to the Fort.

The volunteers will share their expertise and demonstrate their frontier skills for all who attend. See and experience, then judge for yourself Fort Roberdeau: Where History Lives.
