Elick

Robert J. “Bob” Elick, 75, of Cherry Tree, peacefully passed away at 4 p.m. Sunday, surrounded by his family. He was born in Spangler, the son of John Elick Jr. and Marie Arminda (Fleming) Elick.

He graduated from West Anchorage High School in Alaska in 1968 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970. He became a member of the 82nd Airborne and was honorably discharged in 1972.

Bob was a hardworking coal miner from 1972 to 1992 for Greenwich Collieries. In 1992, he and his son started a logging business known as Elick Logging, where he retired from in 2015.

He was a member of Church of Christ in Uniontown and had a strong faith in the Lord. Bob’s love for his family was like none other, and anyone that knew him could see that.

Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping with his family and especially his uncle Ray.

He loved to give his legendary hugs and especially loved newborn babies and kids, no matter whose children they were.

Bob’s favorite movies were of John Wayne, and he liked to emulate him on his own horses. He was a fun-loving man and his humor was contagious. He always knew how to make people laugh.

Bob will be greatly missed and is survived by his loving wife, Judith Ann (Buterbaugh) Elick, whom he married on March 27, 1971, and shared more than 53 years of marriage together; his son, John W. Elick and wife, Jennifer (Litavish), of Cherry Tree; and his daughter, Sherry Marie Jones (Jamie) of St. Lawrence, Pa.; his four grandchildren: Paige Jones, Sydnee Elick, John Francis Elick and Hunter Jones; his great-granddaughter, Ellia Grace Krug; his aunt, Darlene Keith; uncle, Ray “Unc” Fleming; his aunt, Geraldine Federinko; and aunt, Martha Keifer; his loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
