Charles Elmer Lynn Sr.

Charles Elmer Lynn Sr., 90, of Tyrone, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025. He was born in Philipsburg, son of the late Leroy and Margaret (Hosband) Lynn.

On June 1, 1957, at United Brethren Church in Tyrone, he married Rachel May (Friday) Lynn, who survives.

Also surviving are four children: Diane Brinkman, Charles E. (Tina) Lynn Jr., Leroy J. (Karen) Lynn and Carol Shaw; nine grand­children; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by three siblings: Betty Andrews, William Lynn and Donna Holderman. He was the last of his immediate family.

Charles served honorably as a U.S. Army veteran and spent two years in Germany defending the border. After the service, he worked in several fields before ending up at Nease Chemical, where he worked his way up to a supervisor position before his retirement in 1996 after more than 25 years of dedicated service.

Charles enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He and his wife were also avid campers at Locust on the Juniata, where he was dubbed the “unofficial mayor” by the others who regularly camped there.

A celebration of life for Charles Elmer Lynn Sr. will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
