Dennis L. Smith

He married Constance A. Vaughn on Jan. 23, 1971.

Surviving are his wife; two children, James D. Smith of Roaring Spring and Mary A. Smith of Martinsburg; a sister, G. Jean Claycomb and husband, Ray, of Roaring Spring; and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Mowry; and a brother, Donald I. Smith.

Dennis was a member of Martinsburg Church of God.

He was a 1958 graduate of Morrison Cove High School.

Dennis grew up working in his father’s business, E.F. Smith Inc., until the early 90s, when he became a self-employed school bus contractor. He was also a farmer. Dennis retired as a Tech Sergeant from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

He enjoyed old trucks and old farm equipment and was co-founder of the Morrisons Cove Pioneer Power Reunion.

Dennis was a member of the Destroyer, Escort, Sailors Association and the Keystone Chapter Antique Truck Club of America.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at Martinsburg Church of God, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, with Pastors Lew Button and Jim Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
