Darlene (Roush) Jackson
Darlene (Roush) Jackson, 86, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, peacefully passed away Sunday in Williamsburg.
She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late James S. and Eva B. (Parks) Roush. After the early loss of her mother, she found nurturing love with her stepmother, Jeanette Roush.
In 1958, Darlene met her beloved Frank Jackson, and together they welcomed four children. Tragically, he passed away in 1968.
She is survived by a daughter, Francine Rivenburgh of Red Hook, N.Y.; her five cherished grandchildren: Emily Steele (Jonathan), Heidi Woelm (Paul), Jesse DiRenzo (Beth), Nathan DiRenzo (Hannah) and Lisa Marie Roush; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson, Andrew, all of whom she adored; two brothers, Robert Roush (Peggy) of Rhinebeck, N.Y., and Terry Roush of Sweetwater, Tenn.; two sisters: Nancy Luke and Susan Blough (James), both of Williamsburg; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Darlene endured further heartbreak with the loss of her three children: James Michael Jackson, Donald Martin Jackson and Cynthia Darlene Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James William Lloyd; two sisters, Sharon Roush and Emily Gorsuch; and a brother-in-law, Richard Luke.
She was a proud graduate of Williamsburg High School. Darlene dedicated her career to the New York Craig Developmental Center and the Monroe Developmental Center, where she served until her retirement in 2004.
A woman of deep faith, she found joy in studying the Bible, solving puzzles, enjoying movie nights and sharing family meals.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Grace Pointe Community Church, Williamsburg, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., with Pastor Joshua Kirksey officiating. Interment will be held at Yellow Springs Lutheran Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
