Burke

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved brother, Jan Burke, after becoming ill while on a cruise ship in Orlando, Fla. He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Max and Kay (Wright) Burke.

Surviving are two loving sisters, Ann Noel (Dane) and Amy Dillon (Bob); two nephews, Dane Noel (Lisa) and Ricky Feltenberger (Nina); three nieces: Kayla Reed (Josh), Emily Yerty (Kyle) and Lauren Kohan (Nathan); a stepson, Bradley Heidrich of Gilbertsville, Pa.; five great-nephews: Collin (Taylor), Luke, Chase, Parker and Ari; a great-niece, Brynn; and many wonderful friends.

Jan was a 1970 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg, and a 1974 graduate of Pennsylvania State University.

He spent his career with RP Mills Associates, Allentown, where he started in 1980, became part owner and president in 1999 and then retired in 2015. Jan often referred to his 35 years as being more fun than work, and over those years, he became very good friends with many of his clients and associates.

He loved spending time with his family and sharing good laughs. Jan also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins and anything Penn State.

He was a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association, a member of the Nittany Lion Club and also served as past president of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association in Allentown.

At Jan’s request, there will be no funeral service; however, he did insist that his family have a party in his memory. Please come with your stories and memories to share at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, at the Shawnee Park Cabin in Roaring Spring.

Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

Contributions in memory of Jan may be given to the Four Diamonds Cancer Research Center at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, 1249 Cocoa Ave. #115, Hershey, PA 17033.
