Charles T. ‘Charlie’ Benton

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathy (Benton) Zinner. He is survived by his loving wife, Leah R. (Tarachko) Benton; his son, Taylor Benton; his stepsons, Dawson Tarachko and his fiancee, Alexis Noon, of Sidman and Asher Fieni of Lilly; his brother, Donald Benton and his wife, Joyce (Zabrosky), of Portage; his father-in-law, Rob Tarachko of Lilly; his mother-in-law, Gail (McCabe) Tarachko and her companion, Joe Previty, of Portage; his uncles, Paul Schmidt of Portage and Carl Benton and his wife, Karen, of Altoona; an aunt, Delores (Benton) Franklin and her husband, Tom, of Indiana­polis, Ind.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and best friend, Mike Pinos (Dana Leap) and their sons, Henry and Abe in Maryland.

Charlie cared for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as a residential service aide for the Ebensburg Center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. service on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home Inc., Portage, pastors Melia and Don Lewis, officiating. Please, all who come to the funeral home, dress casually, jeans and T-shirts.
