Marilyn D. Capone, 76, passed away Tuesday at her residence in Hollidaysburg. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Madeline (Friel) Decker.

Marilyn married Eugene R. Capone on Aug. 29, 1970, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Altoona. Gene preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 2013.

Surviving are her son, Aaron Capone of Washington, D.C.; her daughter, Cristina (Cece) Capone of West Hartford, Conn.; two sisters, Phyllis Keyes and Cindy Shingler, both of Harrisburg.

She was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School and met Gene while working together at The Young Men’s Shop. Marilyn later worked as a Lighting Design Consultant for more than 20 years at The Hite Co.

Marilyn cherished spending time with her family. She loved traveling, cooking and hosting family and friends.

Most recently, Marilyn was a resident of the Inglenook Apartments in Hollidaysburg.

Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 900 N. Fourth St., Altoona, with Father Ronald Osinski as celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
