Philip E. Wilt

Philip E. Wilt, 93, of Altoona, passed away at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Owen and Dorothy (Hughes) Wilt.

He first married Hazel Foor in 1940, who preceded him in death in 2000. He then married Rosa Ruiz in 2002.

Surviving are his wife of 21 years; two sons: Rick and his wife, Anna, of Altoona and Mark of Fallen Timber; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Howard, in 2014.

Phil graduated from Altoona High School in 1947 and PSU in 1961, where he earned a BS in Engineering.

He retired as a superintendent at Juniata Locomotive Shops in 1990 after 40 years service. He formerly operated the boating and restaurant concessions at Prince Gallitzin State Park.

Phil was a member of the 58th Street United Methodist Church, where he formerly served as Trustee.

He was a big game hunter and enjoyed sport fishing across North America and playing golf. He loved to travel to Mexico and Florida.

Phil and the family were very grateful for the outstanding care provided by his in-home caregivers.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation service by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory, Hollidaysburg.
