Gerald A. ‘Jerry’ Walters

June 17, 1941 – Aug. 11, 2022

Gerald A. “Jerry” Walters, 81, of Altoona, died Thursday morning at Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Calvin Lee and Margaret Irene (Reese) Walters.

He married Ruth White, who preceded him in death on April 7, 1989.

Surviving is a daughter, Susan L. Welshans and her husband, Harry, of Altoona; three grandsons: Scott Snyder, Justin Snyder and Joshua Snyder; six great-grandchildren; and a number of stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Bonnie Black and her husband, Pat, of Blue Knob, and Nancy Dively and her husband, Gabe, of Blue Knob; and a brother, Ronald Walters and his wife, Lee, of Portage.

Jerry retired as an electrician at Blair Electric in Altoona.

He was a graduate of the former Greenfield-Kimmel High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Jerry loved golfing and bowling, but especially enjoyed playing Santa Claus.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona.

Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.

At Jerry’s request, there will be no funeral service.
