Jack D. George

Sept. 16, 1938 – Nov. 29, 2021

Jack D. George, 83, of Altoona, passed away Monday at the Presbyterian Village, Hollidaysburg. He was born in Lilly, son of the late Walter and Susan (Yingling) George. Jack married Carol J. Jewett on Oct. 28, 1961.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 60 years; his daughters, Robin (Alan) Novak of Harrisburg, Lisa (Terry) Yarnish of Gallitzin and Jackie (Dale) McElheny of Prospect, Pa.; five grandchildren: Amy, Adam, Scott, Brad and Ryan; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, Sheila and Cyndi.

He was preceded in death by several siblings.

Jack was a graduate of Lilly Washington High School and served in the U.S. Army.

He retired from Standard Labs and belonged to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Lilly.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc. 1421 8th Ave., Altoona.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Douglas McGaffin. Interment will be held at St. Francis Cemetery, Cresson.
