Vincent Kenneth Russell Sr.

Aug. 2, 1948 – Oct. 14, 2021

Vincent Kenneth Russell Sr., 73, Altoona, passed away Thursday at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Walter Kenneth and Dorothy E. (Wilson) Russell. On Nov. 13, 1971, he married Jane (Powley) Russell, who survives in Altoona. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this November.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Vincent K. Russell Jr. in New York; a grandson, Joseph V. Russell; five siblings: Stephanie Wolfe (Jeff) of Duncansville, Michelle Holland of Altoona, Susan Smouse (Duane) of Martinsburg, Robin Schraff (Ken) of Karthaus and Walter Russell (Dana) of Warriors Mark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest son, Scott E. Russell, who preceded him in death on May 1, 2010.

Vincent was a superintendent at Conrail and Norfolk Southern, retiring in 2001. He was with the railroad for 34 years. Additionally, Vincent was a military veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Some of his hobbies included deer and bear hunting, collecting guns and watching wrestling and football, especially Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a very proud and devoted father. He was always there to watch and support his sons when they wrestled, never missing a single match.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 18, 2021, at the Good Funeral Home, 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. today, Pastor Jon Gross officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Alto- Reste Park, Altoona.
