Mary Jo ‘Mimmy’ Adams
July 30, 1933 – Sept. 24, 2021
Mary Jo “Mimmy” Adams, 88, Cresson, passed away Friday at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Cresson, daughter of the late Edward D. and Mary R. (Madigan) Melley.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Francis “Stooge” Adams; four brothers and a sister.
Surviving are her daughter, Tammy Effinger and her husband, Jim, of Cresson; grandsons, Dave Effinger and his wife, Lauren Bosley, of Johnstown, and Scott Effinger and his girlfriend, Ella Meese, of Canonsburg; a great-grandson, Lucas Effinger; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jo enjoyed playing Bingo, going to ticket tournaments and doing her puzzles. She was an avid fan of Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, at Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson, where a funeral service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, with Pastor Ralph Hamer, officiant. Committal at St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, 916 Hickory St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
