Peter F. Burkholder

July 19, 1941 – June 11, 2021


Peter F. Burkholder, 79, Altoona, passed away Friday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late H. Clay Sr. and Catharine H. (Falck) Burkholder.

Peter was preceded in death by a brother, John “Nick” Burkholder.

Surviving are his loving wife, Patricia L. (Servello); children: Wendy Cannarsa and husband, Michael; Heather Kaspi and husband, Solomon; and Patrick Burkholder; seven grandchildren: Solveig, Liam, Israel, Isaac, Sadie, Mads and Lasse; a brother, H. Clay Burkholder Jr. and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Rosamund Presby Burkholder; and special friend, Sue Ann Hess.

Peter was a 1959 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Lancaster. After graduation, he attended Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster.

In 1962, Peter enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed in Seoul, Korea, through 1964. He was honorably discharged in 1968.

He spent almost 40 years as the owner of Peter Burkholder Student Services, providing graduation supplies to high schools and colleges in Pennsylvania and New York. After his retirement, he went to work for Fiore Toyota as a courtesy driver.

Peter was a past president of the Blair Concert Chorale. He was an avid Penn State football and Altoona Curve fan.

Friends will be received from 5 until the 6 p.m. memorial service Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 806 13th St., Altoona, PA 16602, the Rev. Kevin Barron, officiant.

Arrangements are by Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson.
