Albert C. ‘Al’ Shoenberger

Sept. 24, 1935 – May 30, 2021

Albert C. “Al” Shoenberger, 85, of Tyrone, and a guest at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona, died Sunday. Al was born in Bellwood, son of the late Fred and Mary Emma (Estep) Shoenberger.

On July 10, 1956, at the Spring Mount Church of the Brethren, he married Darlene Clapper who preceded him in death on

Sept. 23, 2019.

He is survived by a son, Ronald C. Shoenberger Sr., of Tyrone; a grandson, Ronald C. Shoenberger Jr.; a great-grandson, Bryson Shoenberger; and twin sister, Alberta (Donald) McCahan of Tyrone.

Al was a 1954 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He was a member of Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church. Al was a farmer by trade and following his labor on the farm he began a second career as an equipment manager with Tyrone Athletics. He was employed with the school district for over 20 years. His dedication and hard work was second to none and appreciated by all of the coaches and athletes that were lucky enough to have played when Al was the manager.

Al was a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Tyrone Monogram Club and the 1999 PIAA AA Football Golden Eagles state championship team. He was also a huge sports fan.

At the request of the family, there will be no service for Albert C. Shoenberger. A private inurnment will be made at Arch Spring Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
