Faye A. James

Dec. 21, 1931 – Feb. 28, 2021

Faye A. James, 89, a former resident of Williamsport and Altoona, passed away on Sunday at Valley View Nursing Center. She was born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, a daughter of the late Lester P. and Pearl (Wertman) Page.

She was the widow of J. Richard James, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2018. They were married on Sept. 2, 1950. His death broke a blissful marriage of over 67 years.

In 1972, her family moved to Altoona and lived there until moving back to Williamsport in 2015. While living in Altoona, Faye worked in various security positions.

Faye was a member of Clinton Baptist Church and a former member of Logan Valley Baptist Church. She volunteered at the Bellwood Senior Center, was very active in the Ladies of the Shrine and served as Past High Priestess of the Jobel Court. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by two children, Carol (Fredrick) Grasty of Montgomery and David James of Altoona; and her daughter-in-law, Karen James of Duncanville, Texas. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lester P. (Donna) Page of Prattville, Ala.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jim (JR, Jr.) James; a daughter-in-law, Antoinetta James; and her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Charles Duchman.

Friends will be received from 10:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, March 5, 2021, at Clinton Baptist Church, 60 Warren St., Montgomery, Pa.

Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
