Robert A. ‘Bobby’ Homan

Sept. 13, 1946 – Feb. 21, 2021

Robert Albert “Bobby” Homan, 74, Altoona, died Sunday morning at his residence, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was born in Carlisle, son of the late Ralph W. and Mary (Rumfelt) Homan. He married Marcia A. Kephart on Aug. 31, 1968, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

Bobby retired in 2001 as a corrections officer at Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Somerset, with 20 years of service. Previously, he was an owner/operator truck driver and also worked at Lafferty Trucking.

He was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.

Bobby graduated from Altoona High School in 1965. He was a member of the American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, Cesare Battisti Mutual Benefit Association, Concordia Society, Newburg Fire Association, St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhool, Swiss Rifle Club of Altoona, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Jaffa Shrine, and Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania, Hollidaysburg Lodge. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, restoring antique cars, working in his garage and attending car shows.

He served four years in the U. S. Air Force, with one tour in the Vietnam War.

Bobby is survived by his wife; four children: Sherrie Homan, Todd E. (Lori) Homan, Travis M. (Dianne) Homan, all of Altoona, and Jennifer E. (Michael) Hoffer of Camp Hill; and seven grandchildren: Hunter Homan, Samuel Homan, Leah Homan, Hannah Mae Homan, Colyn Hoffer, Mackenzie Hoffer and Olivia Hoffer.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Homan.

Friends will be received from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament with Msgr. Stanley Carson, celebrant.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
