Mary Catherine Moran Aigner
Aug. 16, 1930 - Feb. 18, 2021
Mary Catherine (Moran) Aigner, Hollidaysburg, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021.
Making her debut Aug. 16, 1930, Mary was the first of eight children born to Katie Mariah (McNamara) and Peter Leo Moran. She was preceded in death by siblings: Peter Moran, Veronica Evey, Michael Moran and Joseph Moran; siblings-in-law: Barbara Moran, Merle Evey and Mary Kay Moran; nephews: Matthew Schraf and Kevin Moran; and the great love of her life, Dr. Frank Aigner.
Missing her is a slew of nieces, nephews, stepchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and stepgrandchildren, including: Peter M. Aigner, Paula M. Fochler (Paul), Mary C. Aigner (Hugh), Patrick G. Aigner (Lauren), Ann E. Wilson (Richard), Kathleen A. Oswald (Ozzie), Michael F. Aigner (Michelle), Elizabeth A. Scott (Karl), Kelley Schraf, Michele Moran, Molly McCue (Lucas), Eileen Mulligan (Paul), Jenny Wilson, Carrie Serra (Chris), Brian Moran (Katren), Kathleen Walters (Ryan), Peter Moran (Rebecca), Meghan Moran (Ben Wagner), Teddy Moran, Julia Hartley (Sean) and Brendan Moran (Jamie).
Surviving Mary are three brothers: John, James (Kathy) and Dick (Becky) Moran; beloved cousin, Michael (Bridgid) Moran and their children in County Mayo, Ireland; a brother-in-law, Dr. William (Deborah) Aigner; and a sister-in-law, Karen Moran.
A graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, Mary worked for Bell Telephone until her retirement in 1989. She was known for always taking the holiday shifts so her co-workers could be home with their families.
On Oct. 3, 2003, she married her best friend and soul mate, Dr. Frank Aigner. Her very joy was serving as the matriarch of a large, zany Irish family, spoiling her nieces and nephews, imparting her brand of sage wisdom and then sending them back to their parents with a tin whistle or something equally as bothersome.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Duncansville, Monsignor Robert J. Saly, celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at a later date.
