Ruth L. Phillips

July 12, 1929 - Jan. 23, 2021

Ruth L. Phillips, 91, Tyrone, died Saturday at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg. She was born in Bellwood, the daughter of the late Clyde and Lyde “Lydia” (Mulhollen) Shrom. On Sept. 24, 1949, in Bellwood, she married Paul C. Phillips, who died Sept. 5, 1992.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna L. Vaux (Kenneth) of Port Matilda; a son, Jeffrey P. Phillips (Donna) of Tyrone; grandchildren: Michael Barr (Elizabeth), Travis Barr (Barb), Kristi Barr (Harold), Matt Barr (Carla), Shawn Phillips (Casey); eight great-grandchildren; one great- great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was a member of the Ohio Methodist Church in Osceola. She had worked in accounting at the Gable’s Dept. Store, Steel’s Drug Store and the Barfarm Country Store for many years. Before her husband’s death, she was helpful with his local nursery and landscaping business. She was very independent and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Friends will be received from 1 p.m. to the 2 p.m. service Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at the Derman Funeral Home Inc., with Pastor Michelle Bodle officiating. Those attending, please wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Ruth’s memory to any charity or church of choice. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
