Delores Lou (Singer) Burley

Delores Lou (Singer) Burley, 91, Altoona, passed away Monday at home. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Clarence Singer and Daisy (Pullen) Singer. On May 22, 1947, in the Grace Brethren United Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to the late Charles Clayton Burley Jr.

She is survived by six children: Charles “Pudge” Burley III and his wife, Janet; Claudia Woleslagle and her husband, Calvin; Jordie Burley, Gregory Burley and his wife, Amy; Melissa Hill and her husband, Ed, and Jason Burley and his wife, Maria; nine grandchildren: Brian, Jarret, Kimberly, Jocelyn, Lance, Jessica, Ryan, Crystal and Dustin; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was the last of eight children who are all deceased, including brothers: Alan, Joseph, Donald, Pete, twins Bill and Bob; and a sister, Edna (Singer) Watson.

She was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church until it’s closing, then became a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church.

Delores and her daughter sang together many years in the choir at the Grace Methodist Church. She won her first talent singing contest at the age of 15. She took first place singing, “If You Were The Only Boy In The World.” She was blessed with a beautiful voice.

She was a very loving and unselfish mother, always putting her children first. That carried over into her role as grandma and great-grandmother. She was loved and will be missed by all.
