Ronald G. Hufford

Ronald G. Hufford, 80, Martinsburg, died peacefully Tuesday morning at The Village at Morrisons Cove. He was born in Lilly, a son of the late Philip H. and Reba B. (Simpson) Hufford. He married Janet M. (Dumbeck) Hufford on Oct. 26, 1963, in Altoona.
He is survived by his wife; two children: Christine S. and husband, Dr. Eric D. Roll, of Joplin, Mo., and Eric M. Hufford and wife, Linda, of Pecos, N.M.; two grandchildren: Gretchen and Joseph Roll of Joplin, Mo.; four sisters: Becky Rametta of Fla., and Sandra Lingenfelter, Gerry Cherry and Linda Nguyen, all of Altoona; and two brothers: Bill Hufford of Phoenix, Ariz., and Martin Hufford of Duncannon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Ewing; and two brothers, Phil and Richard Hufford.
Ron was a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren.
He was a graduate of Altoona High School.
Ron retired in 2000 as general foreman from Norfolk Southern railroad — Sam Rea Shops. He was previously employed at Montgomery Volkswagen.
He was a United States Army veteran.
He enjoyed raising beagles, gardening and bingo and he also enjoyed volunteering at St. Patrick’s fish frys and pumpkin roll making.
He was a member of the Juniata Lodge #282 F & AM, the Jaffa Shrine, and the Chimney Rocks Beagle Club.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ron’s memory may be given to John’s Way Medical Equipment Ministry, 137 Church Hill Lane, Martinsburg, PA 16662.
