The Rev. Robert D. Grossman

The Reverend Robert D. Grossman, 95, Mountaindale, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Dunmore, son of the late Donald and Alice (Bellas) Grossman.

On June 12, 1948, he married Mardell H. Eakins in Scranton, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2015.

Surviving are two sons, Robert H. (Susan) and Rev. George C. (Sandra), both of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Judith A. (Bradley) Turnbaugh of Mountaindale; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Grossman was a graduate of Practical Bible Training School, Binghamton, N.Y. where he later taught as a professor. For 55 years, he served in the ministry including: First Baptist Church in Roulette, First Baptist Church, Sinclairville, N.Y., Mainland Baptist Church, Pleasantville, N.J., and Walnut Street Baptist Church in Avis. He also served as Visitation Pastor at First Baptist Church, Altoona, for 25 years.

He attended Mountaindale Baptist Church. The Rev. Grossman was a talented artist and vocalist, in which he shared as part of his ministries.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of his family. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
