Mario ‘Butch’ Bukowski

Sept. 29, 1948 – July 30, 2020

Mario “Butch” Bukowski, 71, Gallitzin, died Thursday at his home. He was born in Gallitzin, son of the late Jennie Bukowski.

Surviving are his wife, the former Debra Nagle, whom he married Nov. 20, 1971; children: Tonya, Keith and wife, Jacque, Sabrina and Harry Cruthers; grandchildren: Kaine, Spencer, Desiree and husband, Randy McCloskey, Deven, Derek and a grandchild to be born in January; a great-granddaughter, Riley; his twin sister, Mary Ann Clossin; two brothers: John “Sonny” (Bonnie) Bukowski and Robbie Bukowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He retired from SCI Cresson as a correction officer in 2010. He was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, member of Gallitzin American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose, Sportsmen’s Club and former member of Gallitzin VFW.

Butch enjoyed being with his grandchildren and his family and doing crossword puzzles.

There will be no viewing or visitation. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Military graveside Rites will be by Gallitzin American Legion and other local military organizations.
