Donna May (Cherry) Hagen

Donna May (Cherry) Hagen, 76, Tyrone, departed this life Friday at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
She was born in Tipton, daughter of the late Donald William and Elizabeth Marie (Williams) Cherry. On Sept. 5, 1964, she married Leslie Elwood Hagen in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Leslie, who resides at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home; three daughters: Colleen Friday of Tyrone, Anissa Michaels of Altoona and Leslie Sabol and husband, Brian, of Sandy Ridge; three grandchildren: Lindara, Colton and Hadlie; a great-grandchild, Jaxten; three brothers: Dale Cherry, Dwayne Cherry and Donald Kissell of Tipton; three sisters: Patty Henrichs in Minnesota, Joan Shultz in Texas and Betty Marie McConnell of York Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hagen; and a brother, Donald W. “Bill” Cherry Jr.
Donna was raised in Tipton and was a graduate of Bellwood High School. She and her husband raised their children in Tyrone. She was a loving wife and mother. She loved to spend time with her family, play the piano and sing, go camping, garden, do ceramics and was an amazing cook and baker. She also enjoyed high school football games and wrestling matches. She worked at Big Yank Corp. and the dietary department of Epworth Manor. She will truly be remembered for helping raise a lot of children of Tyrone that went to the in-home daycare that she had for 18 years. She was always happy, always had a smile on her face and had the biggest heart! We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will treasure all the memories they made together.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone. At the request of the deceased, the casket will be closed. A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Bald Eagle Cemetery, Pastor Richard McCahan officiating.
