Howard ‘Larry’ Harshaw Jr.

Feb. 25, 1962 - April 3, 2020

Howard “Larry” Harshaw Jr. 58, Altoona, died on Friday at UPMC Altoona surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Meadville, son of Howard Harshaw Sr. and Bonnie Molke.

Surviving are a daughter, Caitlin Shaffer of Hollidaysburg; three sons: Robert Harshaw of Sharpsburg and Ryan Harshaw and Patrick Conway, both of Hollidaysburg; seven grandchildren: Anna, Rylee, Calie, Ryder, Khloe, Hunter and Carter; a sister, Shannon Harshaw of Philadelphia; and two brothers: Shawn Harshaw of Nanty Glo and John “Randy” Harshaw of Flower Mound, Texas.

He was a 1980 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School. After graduation he proudly served our country for 16 years in the Virginia Air National Guard, 203rd Red Horse Squadron, where he achieved the rank of E-6 technical sergeant. He also worked at Cleveland Brothers.

In his free time, Larry enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of Habitat for Humanity and spent lots of time hunting and fishing throughout his life. He loved his two favorite dogs, Maggie and Amber. Most importantly, he cherished spending time and making memories with his children and grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to Habitat for Humanity, 1410 Allegheny St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.

At this time, services are private and at the convenience of the family due to COVID-19 restrictions. The family will have a memorial service for Larry after the governor’s orders are changed. If you would like to attend, please contact Rob Harshaw or Robby Shaffer via Facebook.
