Lynn Delmar Cupp

April 19, 1937 – Nov. 3, 2019

Lynn Delmar Cupp, 82, Tyrone, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Kenneth Edward and Helen L. (Fike) Cupp. On July 11, 1959, he married S. Darlene Lloyd, and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

In addition to his wife, Darlene, surviving are his brother, K. Talmadge Cupp (Sally); sister, Charlene Cupp Hand (Bernard); and sister-in-law, Becky Lloyd Gwinn (Bob), all of Tyrone.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Jonna Lloyd Franco.

Lynn was a lifelong resident of Tyrone and graduated from Tyrone High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army 8th Infantry Division in Germany. He had been employed at Westvaco Corp., the Tyrone Area School District at the Adams School, and he drove the Tyrone Hospital Care Car after retirement.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Tyrone, serving as a member of the Finance Committee and as an usher. He served on Tyrone Borough Council for many years, including Chairman of the Highway Committee and Council President. He was a member of F&A.M. for 60 years. He also served on the Tyrone Grandview Cemetery Board of Directors as Finance Chairman since its inception.

After retirement, he loved to walk through Reservoir Park and greet all the dogs walking there. He knew them all by name, but not always their owners. He enjoyed photography and had the honor of filming the official visit of Fred Waring to Tyrone in October 1983. He loved to travel and especially wintering in Surfside Beach, S.C., for the last 21 years with a very special group he called his “Lakewood Family.”

At Lynn’s request, there will be no public viewing. Inurnment will be with family at Tyrone Grandview Cemetery, Pastor Tina Hawkins officiating. Arrangements are by Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
