Lois Jean Adams

Lois Jean Adams, 90, Altoona, died early Saturday morning at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Donald Hall and Margaret Pearl (Harnden) Burkhart. On June 27, 1950, she married Arthur Leroy Adams in Altoona.

Surviving are her husband, Arthur, with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage; five children: Arthur Lynn (Anne) Adams of Orlando, Fla., Linda Louise (Charles) Sunderlin of Burnside, Donna Jean Houck of Altoona, Ivan James (Sharon) Adams of North Cape May, N.J., and Susan Marie (Dwight) Grant of Louisville, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Virginia L. Taylor of Disputanta, Va.

Mrs. Adams was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School. Lois retired as a nurse’s aide from the nursery department of the Altoona Hospital in 1985, after 19 1/2 years of service.

She was a life member of the First Church of Christ, where she served as a deaconess and was an organist and pianist.

Lois enjoyed crocheting and singing and was a member of the Altoona Choral Society.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at First Church of Christ, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park.
