Anne Virginia Mauk

Anne Virginia Mauk, 90, Altoona, formerly of Bellwood, died Monday at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William Francis and Myrtle Marian (Hetrick) Crowl. On Aug. 2, 1952, she married Rex Allen Mauk Sr. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death July 17, 1989.

Surviving are five children: Mary Jo (Gerald) Oswalt of Altoona, Rex Allen (Bonnie) Mauk Jr. of Sinking Valley, Tyrone, Wanda (Gregg) Otto of El Paso, Texas, Brenda Ann (Robert) Wilkinson of Lakeland, Fla., and William W. (Jennifer) Mauk of Bellwood; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by infant twins; her granddaughter, Allison Wilkinson; and five siblings: James Crowl, Tom Crowl, Robert Crowl, William Crowl and M. Jeanne Collins.

Mrs. Mauk was a 1948 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood. She was also a member of AARP and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and Paralyzed Veterans of America. She volunteered at Blair Senior Services and the Blair-Clearfield Association for the Blind.

Anne enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, walking, reading, playing cards, life and all of her friends.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 20, 2019, at Jones Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. today. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood, Father Alan Thomas celebrant. Committal rites will be held at Alto-Reste Park.
