Victoria C. ‘Vickie’ Gjurich

Victoria C. “Vickie” Gjurich, 100, of Cresson, died Monday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Gallitzin, the daughter of the late Carlo and Zelmira (Bertoccini) Fabbri.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law: Milan and Janice Gjurich; her granddaughter, Dr. Dana Gjurich and her husband, Dr. Greg Caldwell, and their son, Gregory Anthony; her brothers-in-law: Sylvester Gjurich and Mitch Saula; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vickie was the last member of her immediate family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milan Sr. on Oct. 3, 1985; her sisters: Alice, Theresa Roach, Agnes Bricca, Louise Sprouse, Eleanor Longosky and Nellie Tragon; and her brothers: Fedo and Gino.

Vickie was a 1938 graduate of Gallitzin High School and retired from Cambria County Assessment Office as a clerk. She was a member of St. Aloysius Legion of Mary, Cambria County Retirement Association and St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, keeping her house clean, watching Steelers and Penn State football and basketball.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, with the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson.
