Dorothy Fox Wilson

Dorothy Fox Wilson, 97, of Duncansville, died Saturday morning at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of the late Eston and FlaVilla (Hendley) Fox and was raised in Arlington, Va. She married Woody Wilson on Aug. 1, 1941, and he died Sept. 16, 1983.

Surviving are: two daughters, Virginia Smith (husband, Ron) of Matthews, N.C., and Dorothy FlaVilla Wilson, with whom she resided; four granddaughters: Amy Castellani, Elizabeth Walker (George), Constance Taylor (Jeff) and Wendy Hinkal (Brett); two grandsons: Matthew Smith (Randy) and Robert Hecker (Randi); an adopted granddaughter, Lindsay Morris (Lance) and their children; five great- grandsons; one great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and special friends: Kathleen Crilly, Deb Richard and Veryle Shaffer.

Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Hecker; a son, Kenneth Wilson; and four siblings: Eloise Comstock, Edith Legg, FlaVilla Kiernan, and Eston Fox.

She was a 1940 graduate of Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Va. She was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church, Hollidaysburg.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, loved animals, enjoyed reading and was a talented seamstress before her vision failed.

Friends will be received from noon until the 2 p.m. memorial service on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, Pastor William Zimmerman officiating. Inurnment will be made in Alto-Reste Park.
