James C. ‘Jim’ Douglas

July 7, 1929 – July 4, 2019

James C. “Jim” Douglas, 89, Duncansville, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday morning.

He was born in Canoe Creek, son of the late William C. and Hannah M. (Norris) Douglas. He married Lu Ann Appleyard on March 31, 1978, in Toledo, Ohio.

Surviving are his wife, Lu Ann; a daughter, Kim Mladenik in North Carolina; two sons: Troy Douglas of Altoona and Christopher “Henry” Heckler in Georgia; three grandchildren: Taylor, Collin and Milo; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Anna Mary May in Washington and Elizabeth Boettcher in Colorado.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda; a son Jimmy; a sister, Almeda Miller; and two brothers: Billy and Daniel Douglas.

Jim retired as a truck driver for Central Transport. He was a member of Canoe Creek Brethren in Christ Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with the grandchildren and being outdoors at the family cabin in Canoe Creek.

At Jim’s request, there will be no viewing or services. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Duncansville.
