Charles C. ‘Chuck’ Campbell Jr.

Charles C. “Chuck” Campbell Jr., 80, Altoona, passed away Saturday morning at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles C. Sr. and Ann J. (Majchrzak) Campbell.
Surviving are his cousin and caregiver, Cathy Madden and husband, Wayne; and cousins: Brenda Servello, Benita Boling, Bruce Boling, Randy Campbell, Penny Orr and David Orr.
Chuck was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army and then was transferred to U.S. Army Reserves, where he earned the rank of sergeant.
He retired as a firefighter and driver from the Altoona Fire Department after 21 years of service. Chuck was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Alumni and the Altoona Retired Firefighters Association I.A.F.F./Local 299.
Chuck was a life member of First Baptist Church, Altoona, where he served as an usher, a Sunday school teacher and was on the board of trustees.
He was a member of the Jaffa Temple, Logan Lodge No. 490 F&AM, where, on Jan. 12, 2010, he received a 50-year Masonic Service Emblem and Pin. On Oct. 29, 2019, he received the 50-year certificate and lapel pin from the Jaffa Temple. Chuck also received the
50-year certificate and lapel pin from the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Altoona. He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish of Freemasonry Valley of Altoona, where he was a recipient of the 2008 Meritorious Service Award for the Valley of Altoona and received a red hat and lapel pin.
Chuck served as a chaplain for the Jaffa Shrine Provost Guard and was a Marshal Member of the Mid-Atlantic Shrine Association Provost Guards, where he also served as a chaplain. He was a 50-year member of The Imperial Council, the Ancient Arabic Order and the Nobles of Mystic Shrine, for North America.
He was also a member of the Altoona Square and Compass Club; a life member of the Bellwood Sportsman’s Association; a member of AARP; and a member of the United Commercial Travelers of America.
Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and traveling.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday July 11, 2019, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a Masonic service will be held by Logan Lodge No. 409 at 6 p.m. Thursday. Friends will also be received from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 1209 17th St., Altoona, Pastor Tyler Pepper officiating. Honor guard will be accorded by the Altoona Fire Department. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
