Donald William ‘Don’ Cessna

Donald William “Don” Cessna, 82, Riverside, Calif., formally of Altoona, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease surrounded by his family.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Edward C. Cessna and Clara E. Love. He married Mary Gilliam on Nov. 12, 1972.

Surviving are his wife; three children: Donald (Denora), Kathy (Jason) Cessna and Jennifer Cessna (Brian) Shearer, all of Riverside, Calif.; eight grandchildren: Bryana, Kyla, Byron, Kathryn, Owen, Jaxson, Dylan and Danica; three sisters: Candace Westley Varner of Prosper, Texas, Ruth Westley and Alicia Westley Burk, both of Altoona; a cousin, Bill Greiner; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward Lee Cessna and David George Cessna.

Don attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Altoona High School in 1955. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019, at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, River­side, Calif. A celebration of life service will be held immediately after the visitation on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery.
