Carla Jean Cottle

May 24, 1937 - May 14, 2019

Carla Jean Cottle, 81, Raystown Road, Hopewell, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late James and Mildred (Snyder) Davis. On June 10, 1956, she married John Ray Cottle at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, surviving are two children: Sheri L. Simpson and husband, Randy, of Hollidaysburg, and John R. Cottle Jr. and wife, Karen (Fluke), of Woodbury; four grandchildren: Brandon Simpson and wife, Lindsay, of Greenville, S.C., Zachary Simpson of Hollidaysburg, and Hayley and Allison Cottle, both of Woodbury; and two siblings: Sylvia M. Gephart of Ocala, Fla., and Robert A. Davis and wife, Betty, of Hollidaysburg.

Carla was a graduate of Robert P. Smith High School, class of 1955. She worked for 41 years for the Everett Bank until her retirement.

She was a member of the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren and of the Saxton Chapter No. 161 Order of the Eastern Star.

Carla loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed flower gardening and watching Penn State football.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2019, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Akers Funeral Home Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, Pastor Debi Decker and Pastor Richard B. Fluke II officiating.
