William G. Olson

He was born in Holliday­sburg, son of the late Arthur B. and May R. (Rhodes) Olson. He was twice married; first to Derwene M. Goshorn, who preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 1987, and then to Mary L. Worley, who passed away on July 3, 2006.

Surviving are a son, William D. Olson (Jackie) of Bethlehem; four daughters: Debra A. Barroner (Mike) of Hollidaysburg, Karyn M. Conrad (Mike) of Altoona, Susan E. Baumgardner (Victor) of Duncansville and Sandra Brown (Rick) in Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Jim Robinson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur R.; and a sister, Helen L. Robinson.

Bill was a 1948 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves and retired from Berwind Railroad as plant manager. He was a member of Hicks United Methodist Church, Duncansville. He was also a member of Hollidaysburg Sportsman Club, Holiday Rovers, Chimrock Squares, and the Heidelberg Country Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and wrestling. He loved Penn State football.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019, the Rev. Rich Morris officiating.

Interment will be at Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one’s choice in Bill’s memory.
