Veronica Romayne S. (Shay) McMahon, 80, Camp Hill, passed away Wednesday at Geisinger Holy Spirit, Camp Hill.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Dorothy V. (Shay) Haines. On Oct. 3, 1992, she married Leo McMahon at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Harrisburg.
Surviving are her husband, retired U.S. Air Force Col. Leo T. McMahon Jr.; a brother, Thomas J. Fornwalt of Altoona; a niece, Teri Lion; and many cousins in the Altoona area.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy; and her first husband, William M. Miller.
Romayne attended Catholic schools and graduated in 1955 from Altoona High School. She also attended Altoona School of Commerce and the University of Indiana, Bloomington. Since 1975, she was owner of Veroniques’s Antiques, Mechanicsburg. She was previously employed by Bell Telephone Co. and Puritan Knitting, both in Altoona and Puerto Rico.
She was a member of Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, The Wednesday Club, West Shore Country Club, International Society of Appraisers, New England Appraisers Association, Camp Hill Woman’s Club, PA Historical Society, Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society and Blair County Historical Society.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, loved big band music and swing dancing and traveling the U.S. and abroad. Romayne owned and showed many white Persian cats and will be greatly missed by Jasmine, her current Persian cat.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St., Camp Hill. Friends will also be received from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 24, 2018, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 E. Trindle Road, Camp Hill. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, 212 State St., Harrisburg, PA 17101.
