Jack Merrill Morgan

Jack Merrill Morgan, 81, Altoona, died Friday morning at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Hughy Merrill and Ferma Naomi (Kerlin) Morgan. On Aug. 31, 1956, he married Edna May Hiltner in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife; six children: a daughter, Susan Lee Morgan of Roaring Spring; a daughter, Jacqueline Renee Traver (Daniel Lee Teeters) of Tyrone; a son, Jeffrey Merrill (Dawn) Morgan of Altoona; a daughter, Lisa Dawn Morgan of Altoona; a son, Jesse Martin Morgan (Paula Harris) of Greenwood; and a son, Jason Matthew Morgan of Altoona; five grandchildren: Beth Ann, Angela, Gretchen, Nathan and Kiersten; four great-grandchildren: John, Lane, Emmalyn and Levi; and a sister, Judy Yon of Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Albert Paul Beasom.
Jack was a 1954 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired as a driver after 58-plus years of service at Ward Trucking, where he had been employed since 1959. He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, Altoona, and a member of the Altoona Association of Model Railroaders since June 1966.
He was an avid baseball fan, and he coached for teams in the Greenwood area, Little League through Federation-level baseball. He enjoyed model railroading and gardening.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, and
9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Ralph Hamer officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
