William L. Marks

William L. Marks, 72, Exeter, N.H., died April 5, 2016.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late William and Leona Marks.

Surviving are his wife, Pamela; two daughters: Kathy (Daniel) Voth in Colorado and Dolly Marks-Mazonowicz of Cornwall, England; two grandchildren: Max (Michelle) Voth and Molly Voth in Colorado; a sister, Norma Ross in Michigan; two brothers: Stephen (Ann) Marks in Michigan and David (Elizabeth) Marks in Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Lance Mazonowicz.

William was educated in Altoona and Flint, Mich., and was a graduate of Iowa State University and the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-91 in submarines, deep submersibles and surface ships, where he held command. He completed his Naval career as technical director of SOSMRC. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a man of great intelligence, integrity, loyalty and compassion. He brought out the best in everyone he met.

He will be buried at sea in the Pacific with full military honors. A celebration of his life will be held in the summer. Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter, N.H.
