Robert J. ‘Bob’ Abernethy

Robert J. “Bob” Abernethy, 71, Williamsburg, passed away Thursday morning at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, Altoona, after an extended illness.

He was born in Johnstown, son of the late Thomas and Elnora (Ford) Abernethy. He married Deka A. Royer on Sept. 26, 1975, in Williamsburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 40 years of Williamsburg; two sons: Douglas J. and C. Eric; a daughter, Lisa J.; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Peggy Thomas.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.

Bob was a 1961 graduate of Johnstown High School and attended Penn State University. He had been employed in radio broadcasting for many years in various states, serving as an executive and in various other positions.

Bob was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He enjoyed ice hockey and riding motorcycles, and he loved listening to all types of music.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Company.
