NEW YORK — New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is traveling to Puerto Rico for an annual summit that brings New York’s politicians and lobbyists to sunny San Juan for strategy meetings, workshops and boozy confabs. Fresh off his election win, Mamdani is expected to be a main attraction of the Somos conference.

The 34-year-old announced his transition team this week, hiring a group of seasoned officials to help guide the state assemblymember’s shift to City Hall.

Judge scolds prosecutors in Comey case

ALEXANDRIA — A federal judge has ordered prosecutors in the criminal case of former FBI Director James Comey to produce materials from the investigation, saying he’s concerned the Justice Department’s position had been to “indict first” and investigate second.

Magistrate Judge William Fitzpatrick instructed prosecutors to produce grand jury materials and other evidence investigators seized during the investigation.

Woman rescues beached shark

MANZANITA — A woman walking her dogs on a beach near Portland, Oregon, found a small shark struggling in a tidepool. The salmon shark resembled a baby great white and was about 3 feet long.

Video shows her carrying it with one arm and releasing it into the ocean.
