Salmonella poisoning linked to pistachio cream

Four people have been sickened in two states by salmonella poisoning linked to pistachio cream, a nut butter spread.

Three people in Minnesota and one in New Jersey fell ill. One person was hospitalized. The outbreak is linked to Emek brand pistachio cream imported from Turkey. The product has a use-by date of Oct. 19.

Jury: MyPillow founder defamed voting worker

A federal jury in Colorado has found MyPillow founder Mike Lindell defamed a former employee for a leading voting equipment company. Jurors reached the verdict Monday for Lindell, one of the nation’s most prominent election conspiracy theorists. He had called the employee for Dominion Voting Systems, Eric Coomer, a traitor.

Lindell’s online media platform also streamed an event where a conservative podcaster accused Coomer of helping rig the 2020 election.

Coomer said his career and life have been destroyed as a result of the statements. Coomer’s lawyers said

Lindell either knew the statements were lies, or conveyed them recklessly without knowing if they were true.

Israel condemns walls around pavilions in Paris

French authorities have ordered black partition walls around some Israeli defense industry displays at the Paris Air Show. Israel’s Ministry of Defense has condemned the move and demanded an immediate reversal.

A French official said the decision came from a top security agency under the prime minister. The official said Israeli exhibitors were told weeks in advance that they couldn’t exhibit certain types of equipment and didn’t comply.

Wall Street recovers shock as US stocks rise

Calm returned to Wall Street, and U.S. stocks rallied, while oil prices gave back some of their initial spurts following Israel’s attack on Iranian nuclear and military targets at the end of last week.

The S&P 500 climbed 0.9% Monday to recover most of its drop from Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.8%, and the Nasdaq composite rose 1.5%. Treasury yields rose.

Trump family launching mobile phone company

The Trump family company says it’s launching a mobile phone company, the latest in a string of ventures that have been announced while Donald Trump is in the White House.

Eric Trump, one of President Trump’s sons, said Monday that the new company would build its own phones and maintain a call center in the U.S. The new business follows several real estate deals for towers and resorts in the Middle East, including a golf development in Qatar announced in April, and a $1.5 billion partnership to build golf courses, hotels and real estate projects in Vietnam.

Airports close across Mideast amid conflict

The conflict between Israel and Iran has forced many countries in the Middle East to close their airspace, as Israeli jets and Iranian exploding drones and missiles fly over their night skies.

Dozens of airports in the region have stopped their flights or reduced operations, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded at airports in the region and many others unable to flee the conflict or travel home.

Judge extends block on suspending students

President Donald Trump’s order to block incoming foreign students from attending Harvard University will remain on hold temporarily.

U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs in Boston on Monday extended a temporary restraining order on Trump’s proclamation until June 23 while she weighs Harvard’s request for a preliminary injunction.
