Trump admin removes NTSB vice chair
The White House says the vice chair of the National Transportation Safety Board has been removed from his position, a rare move that comes as the agency investigates more than 1,000 cases.
The Trump administration removed Alvin Brown, the only Black member of the board, a little more than a year after he was sworn in. The White House didn’t say why he was removed.
Idaho
Truck crossed center line in crash
Idaho State Police say a pickup truck that collided with a tour van near Yellowstone National Park last week, killing seven people, crossed the center line and hit the van.
Police say Tuesday that investigating troopers have determined that the Dodge Ram pickup crossed the line on U.S. Highway 20 and struck the Mercedes passenger van. Police are still investigating what caused the driver to veer into oncoming traffic. Officials have said the pickup driver, five of the 12 Chinese tourists on board and an Italian tourist died.

BRENHAM — Rescue crews in Texas have found the body of a 10-year-old girl swept away by rapidly rising floodwaters. Teams of people scoured the city of Brenham, using drones with thermal imaging and dogs to find the girl.

Ukraine attacks shut down airports
All four international airports around Moscow temporarily suspended flights as Russia said its forces intercepted more than 100 Ukrainian drones.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said Tuesday that almost a dozen Russian regions were targeted. The overnight assault came two days ahead of a unilateral 72-hour ceasefire announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Panama
Thousands march over deal with US
PANAMA CITY — Thousands of Panamanians have marched in the capital in the largest protest yet against an agreement signed during last month’s visit by the U.S. defense secretary.
The agreement gives U.S. troops access to strategic air and naval facilities in the Central American nation. U.S. President Donald Trump thrust Panama into the spotlight even before winning election last November by suggesting that the U.S. should consider retaking control of the Panama Canal.

Israeli seizure plan met with alarm
DEIR AL-BALAH — An Israeli plan to seize the Gaza Strip and expand the military operation has alarmed many in the region.
Palestinians are exhausted and hopeless, pummeled by 19 months of heavy bombing. “What’s left for you to bomb?” asked Moaz Kahlout, a displaced man from Gaza City who said many resort to GPS to locate the rubble of homes wiped out in the war. Families of hostages still being held in Gaza are terrified that the possibility of a ceasefire is slipping further away.
