Bellwood-Antis School District seeks new sound system for Memorial Stadium
Current setup at football field declining in functionality
BELLWOOD — Bellwood-Antis School District will replace the aging sound system at Memorial Stadium with a high-powered modern setup.
The current system is at least 20 years old and is experiencing a decline in functionality, according to Director of Facilities Tom Kovac, which prompted him to seek a replacement.
The Bellwood-Antis School Board will vote on a proposed contact with Bettwy Systems Inc., of Duncansville, to replace the old system and install a Behringer X32 Digital Mixer and Crown Two-Channel Power Amplifier at a cost of $5,593.74, including parts and labor.
Since it is a relatively simple project, Kovac estimated it would only take a handful of hours to complete the actual replacement process, so waiting for the new equipment to arrive will be a longer delay.
Kovac anticipates that work will begin almost immediately once the new gear is delivered, with the entire replacement project complete in about two weeks.
Bettwy has lent the district a modern mixer and power amplifier as a stop-gap measure until they can install the new equipment, Kovac said.
The board will vote on the contract next week.
Personnel expenses
During Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, the board received an updated list of staff salaries across the district pending approval during next week’s regular board meeting.
BASD’s top-paid employees are Superintendent Edward DiSabato at $142,000, High School Principal Rick Schreier at $115,838, Middle School Principal Donald Wagner at $129,020, Myers Elementary School Principal Matthew Stinson at $101,485 and district business manager Gregory Gates earning $108,099 annually.
These figures are gross earnings before taxes and do not include additional stipends for teacher mentorship or coaching duties, Gates said.
