An Everett man faces a felony charge of fleeing police and more than two dozen additional charges after an alleged chase Thursday in which he ended up crashing his motorcycle.
Dustin Jacob Coble, 25, was arraigned Friday before Magisterial District Judge Tonya M. Osman on the felony charges, along with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol/controlled substance, two misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, 12 misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person and 10 summary traffic violations, including operating a vehicle without headlights.
Unable to post $40,000 bail, he was remanded to the Bedford County Correctional Facility. His preliminary hearing is July 25 in Bedford County Central Court.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Coble was driving a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle without a headlight on Route 30 west, near Lower Snake Spring Road about 9:07 p.m. Thursday.
The trooper turned around to catch up to the motorcycle, which turned onto Lower Snake Spring Road. At that time, Coble turned the headlight on, the report states.
As the trooper attempted to make a traffic stop, Coble accelerated at a high rate of speed before crashing while making a right curve. Sparks were observed, the officer stated in the report, noting the motorcycle and Coble slid on the road.
Coble got to his feet, stumbled and failed to comply with verbal commands, the officer reported. Eventually, Coble laid on the ground, but when the officer attempted to take him into custody, he began to physically resist, eventually regaining his feet and fleeing the scene, with the trooper pursuing in his patrol unit.
Coble again began to comply with verbal commands, but again fled on foot. Two Taser deployment attempts were made with negative results and Coble fled into a wooden area down an embankment, court documents state.
Eleven additional law enforcement officers responded to the scene and Coble was eventually found at a residence south of where he fled. Coble then fled again and two additional Taser deployments were made with negative results and a foot pursuit ensued.
Police said Coble does not have a motorcycle license, the motorcycle was not properly registered and the license was returned as belonging to a 2016 Yamaha in Ohio.
